“The Roads I Could Not Reach”
Do not speak of longing here with me,
You do not know how deep my pain can be.
Do not speak of going far away,
My roads are closed — I cannot find a way.
A wanderer lost in lands so far apart,
I miss my mother’s scent with all my heart.
Whenever I speak, my eyes overflow,
This hidden longing is all I know.
Do not say: “I’ll go and see her soon,”
I carry only grief beneath the moon.
Please do not say: “She’ll come today,”
I’ve swallowed longing — it won’t go away.
