Achyot Kumar Borah - poem

Achyot Kumar Borah - poem
A LIVING STONE AND A RIVER

A living stone
said to the flowing river-
Did I ever ask you
why, breakig my heart,
you rush away toward the sea?

From hard to harder
I have shaped myself,
yet at your touch
I break again and again.

Each time you make me realize
I am nothing
but a fistful of emptiness
wrapped in sand.

For a palmful of your touch
I carry an endless thirst.
I crumble, I collapse, I delight-
with every blow,
pearls of laughter
scatter and shine.

Chest to the blow, breaking the chest,
breaking the chest, offering the chest-
what a nameless yearning this is.

Whether you know it or not,
your story and mine
are woven from the same love.

Your love is the vastness
of a distant sea.
My love
is your unending journey.
