Mother

Your image comes into my dreams,
Your tears, shed from time to time.
You press your calloused hands to my face,
And drowsily drift, lost in sorrow.

How can I ever make you proud?
Please answer me, tell me, dear Mother!
May I always laugh within your embrace,
May you be happy, my dearest Mother!

For a helpless daughter like me,
You have shed an ocean of tears.
Alas, I can never give them back-
Please forgive me, dear Mother!

Look into my eyes with hope,
And there you will see my strength.
You may scold this foolish daughter,
But please, Mother, do not withhold your blessing!

Longing

Longing rules my heart so deep,
Tearing my tender soul apart.
It seeks to reach the one I miss,
Finding its own way to his heart.

Yet I could never say aloud
How deeply I am longing within.
My poor heart keeps its silent grudge,
Suffering from the ache I’m in.

My fragile heart, afraid and shy,
Lies hidden, dreaming bitter dreams.
The human soul can never know
What this restless heart truly means.
