SANDRA FABAC – CROATIA

Sandra Fabac is a Croatian poet, author and humanist whose literary voice is shaped by deep empathy, life experience, and a profound love for humanity. For more than two decades, she has been writing poetry inspired by the beauty of life, the strength of the human spirit, and the invisible bonds that connect people across cultures and nations. By profession a nurse, her work in healthcare has taught her to love people even more deeply and to share the warmth of her heart. Through more than twenty years of humanitarian work and numerous projects, she had the exceptional honor of being recognized among the top 10 workers in her country in the Mali Svjetionik project, receiving a statue that warms her heart and adorns her home. These experiences inspire her literary work, giving her poetry authenticity, warmth, and humanity.
Sandra Fabac has written more than 700 poems and poetic reflections exploring themes of love, inner strength, spirituality, and the beauty of the human soul. She is the author of the poetry collection Love in a Drop of Tears, and her new collection Beautiful in a Drop of Forgetfulness will soon be published. She is also preparing a novel based on a true story, The Man Under the Mask, and writes lyrics for musical interpretation, including the song Just Love Me, for which she is the author of the text.
Active in international cultural life, Sandra is a carnivalist and member of the Federation of European Carnival Cities, through which she connects people worldwide with art, poetry, and celebration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she created and organized the first virtual carnival in the world, working tirelessly across time zones to unite participants in a unique celebration of culture, creativity, and joy.
Her life and literary mission remain steadfast: to unite people through humanity, poetry, smiles, and the sharing of art. With love for her homeland, Croatia, and openness toward the world, she believes that all people can feel one shared heartbeat that connects us all.

ICON OF LOVE
(Return)

I return to myself in a time without time
the ground yields the sky follows me like a worried mother quietly gently
Fridino I ask quietly
why feet when thought flies and knows how to fly
only a sketch colors of love pouring out from lines no one completes
In my palms I carry home
the hearth of love children of my thoughts
gently lightly with warmth that embraces all
I embrace where no one comes where love lives peaceful quiet
My hands know the shape of my heart
the warmest place where one stays
the heart appears in the rhythm of giving
I listen because love does not seek reasons
I release near and far
all that feeds on the absence of my warmth
the lifeless I return to love
I keep for myself what breathes a unique crack through which light enters
Nothing rocks me anymore
standing in the embrace of myself
in silence my home arises gentle deep
The shell breaks without noise
the skin remembers the touch of light
I emerge without a name
icon of love strength and quiet power
With the circles of life I love only love
the golden pen joins the verses
magical music that shines floats
rising like ladders of light connecting earth and sky
