THE QUIET MIRROR
We walk with masks of polished stone,
In crowded halls, yet deeply lone,
Collecting truths we fear to speak,
Behind a pulse, controlled and meek.
But there’s a gold within the grit,
A pilot light-long may it sit-
That flickers when the ego fails,
And strips away the heavy veils.
It is the hand that doesn’t pull away,
The courage in the "I’m not okay,"
The messy, trembling, honest art
Of opening a locked-up heart.
